About Your Expert Trainer
More than three decades of professional dog-training experience focused on both ends of the leash.
Synethia Sutphin
With over three decades of experience in professional dog training, Synethia has dedicated her career to creating successful partnerships between dogs and their humans. Her work focuses not only on training dogs, but also on teaching people how to read canine body language, understand communication signals, and respond appropriately so both ends of the leash can work together with greater trust and clarity.
My Journey
Like many dog owners, Synethia's journey began with a puppy who seemed impossible to potty train. After trying books, expert advice, and standard methods without consistent success, she began looking more closely at what traditional training advice was missing. That experience helped shape the training philosophy she uses today: understand the dog in front of you, work with the dog's natural instincts and motivations, and teach the human how to recognize and respond to the dog's communication.
Using positive-reinforcement methods, Synethia builds training programs that empower both dog and handler. Her science-based approach is designed to create confident, happy dogs while giving their humans clear, practical skills they can use in everyday life.
Professional Background
30+ Years of Experience

Helped hundreds of puppies achieve reliable potty training, including challenging cases that required individualized plans.
Guide Dog Development
Prepared future guide dogs through early socialization, house manners, confidence-building, and foundational training for future service roles.
Search & Rescue Training
Helped develop dogs' natural tracking and detection abilities through reward-based training that builds motivation and reliable scent work.
Therapy Dog Service
Volunteered with a certified therapy dog to support children who experienced trauma, using a calm and positive approach to create a safe, supportive environment.
AKC Evaluation
As an AKC evaluator, Synethia maintains professional standards while helping teams prepare for recognized training milestones in a positive learning environment.
What Makes My Approach Different
Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all formula, Synethia's training approach is designed to address why a behavior is happening and what each individual dog and handler need to succeed.
- Addresses the root causes behind many training failures
- Works with the dog's natural instincts and motivations
- Adapts to the individual dog, handler, and situation
- Provides clear, actionable steps
- Builds consistency through communication and understanding
